Frequently Asked Questions

When should we arrive?

Please arrive at your adventure destination at least 30 minutes prior to your trip departure time.

Do we need reservations?

While Reservations are strongly suggested, walk-ins are always welcome.  Advanced reservations are always beneficial as many of our adventures have limited capacity.

How do we get there?

Glenwood Adventure Company is conveniently located in downtown Glenwood Springs, behind Summit Canyon across the street from Good Health Grocery Store.  Feel free to call us at 877-346-4536 or look at the handy map at the beginning of this catalog or on our website.

Who can go on these trips?

Most trips are available to anyone, but anyone under 18 years of age not accompanied by their parent or legal guardian must bring to the office our release form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Our release form can be downloaded from the website or we can email or snail mail you.  Children 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.  Some of our adventures may not be suitable for young children, please do not hesitate to contact our knowledgeable staff with any questions you may have regarding your child’s participation.  Children must be at least 35lbs to participate in our family float trips.

What should we know about weather, altitude and the terrain?

Have you heard the saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad planning”? It’s a good one. While we regularly pay homage to the rain gods, we can’t guarantee sunny days for every trip. Not to worry though, our experienced guides and top-of-the-line gear will ensure that you have a phenomenal trip, rain or shine. In the case of truly inclement weather where we feel the quality of the trip will be compromised, we will the cancel the trip and offer you a refund or a spot on a future trip. You will be informed of such cancellations at least 3 hours prior to your trip departure.

What special gear or clothing is needed?

Perhaps one of the most often asked and hardest to answer question is “What do we bring”? A few ideas include change of clothes, rain gear, swimming shorts, swim suit, sunglasses (with croakies), sunscreen, a waterproof camera, some shoes you can get wet. (We suggest either tennis shoes, or a river sandal (Tevas, Chacos). Please no flip flops) You may bring a light snack or water

We have a shop on base if you need to purchase any of these things! On the spring and Fall River trips we may require that you wear a wetsuit while on the river. You are welcome to rent one of our suits or bring one of your own. Rental of a suit is $10.00, booties are $5.00. When going on any of our water adventures, please don’t forget to bring a change of dry clothing and footwear for your trip home!

Do we need to tip?

Tips are accepted and appreciated, but not expected or required.  Guides are adequately compensated, but the difference between a good adventure and a great adventure trip is frequently the guide. If you are inclined to tip a good reference is how you would tip in a restaurant.

How do we arrange for a custom or private trip?

Family Reunions, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate retreats, group reunions, organizational outings, family vacations and other special occasions often need customized adventures. We know when creative minds start to wonder; fantastic adventure trips can be imagined. Please contact us and tell us your thoughts and adventure desires.
