Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park
If you’re planning a trip to Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a must-see attraction. If it wasn’t for the bright orange gondolas dangling in the sky above the city, you might never know what exciting adventures lie at the top of Iron Mountain.
First discovered in the 1800’s, the Glenwood Caverns or “fairy caves” have been popular with tourists since before Glenwood Springs had electricity. Now not only can you enjoy the stunning caves and their formations, but you can fly down the mountain on The United States’ first alpine roller coaster, soar through the air on the Giant Swing over scenic Glenwood Canyon, or thrill your senses on the 4D Ride Theater. Brand new to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in 2012, the Cliffhanger Roller Coaster is a full-sized thrill ride with panoramic views of Glenwood Springs and The Roaring Fork Valley.
The park is open year round. In fact, the cave tours are terrific in both summer and winter because the caverns stay a cool 52 degrees Fahrenheit making it almost always a comfortable temperature. Guests have the option of purchasing full-access day passes or choosing their adventures a la carte.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park also hosts Music on the Mountain, a concert series, throughout the year. Guests can enjoy live music on top of Iron Mountain for free with a canned food donation for LIFT-UP. After an evening of good music and good company, you’ll be head-over-heels for the view of the city lights on the nighttime tram ride down the mountain.
